I am a proud Latina in my 1st year as a Ph.D. Student in the Mehta Lab at the University of California Santa Cruz. I started my career in marine science by graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a B.S in Marine Biology and continued attaining experience by returning home to Panama and interning at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute.

I intend to study how feeding traits evolve in response to different environmental conditions. Through the pursuit of my graduate degree, I aim to integrate my skills for scientific illustrations and underwater photography and videography to better scientific communication. Additionally, by obtaining my Ph.D., I will become a first-generation graduate student and first to focus in the Biological Sciences in mt family.
